Klappentext
Biomimetics is the first resource exploring the most recent developments in biologically inspired science and technology using principles of physics to understand necessary mathematical techniques. This book provides exposure to a broad range of research topics to help fully explain the scope of the emerging discipline of biomimicry. The reader will learn to take ideas and concepts from nature, implement them into research, and gain the ability to understand and explain a diversity of phenomena and their related functionalities. Engineered Biomimicry will help readers seek solutions to the most pressing technical problems of our times in nature, while providing a solid understanding of the important role of biophysics. There are many physical applications related but not limited to adhesion superhydrophobicity and self-cleaning, photonic devices, biomaterials and composite materials, sensor systems, robotics and locomotion, and ultra-lightweight structures.
