ALFRED PRICE PhD served for sixteen years as an aircrew officer in the RAF where he specialised in electronic warfare and air-fighting tactics. In 1974 he left the service and has since worked full time as a writer on aviation subjects. He is the author of more than forty books and lives in Rutland.

When the Focke Wulf Fw 190 first became operational in the autumn of 1941 it gave its enemies a nasty shock. In June 1942 an Fw 190 pilot became disorientated during combat over England and made a successful wheels-down in South Wales.
