This volume presents a European comparison of local governance with a special focus on the issue of participation. Analyses and case studies coming from different countries provide an overview of the current debate, including cross-border and European approaches. The volume is based on the results of a European conference which the Euro-Institute organized, together with the EUROPA Association, the University of Applied Sciences Kehl and the Council of Europe, in September 2011 in Kehl, Germany.
