Among his large-scale works are Dies Irae, a cantata of remembrance for three choirs, soloists, and orchestra; The Pied Piper of Hamelin, an entertainment for adult and children's choirs; Air and Angels for baritone solo, choir, brass quintet, timpani, and piano; and Ionian Mass, a secular work for mixed choir and piano. He has also written a wide variety of smaller-scale original works and arrangements for choirs of all types. His music appears in a number of anthologies including The Oxford Book Of Easy Flexible Anthems and the The Oxford Book of Flexible Choral Songs.
Zusammenfassung
for SATB unaccompanied In this lively 6/8 setting, Assersohn explores a macaronic 15th-century text ('A Patre Unigenitus/Through a maiden is come'), with its exclamations of 'Eya!' reinforcing festive celebration.
